CVE-2025-55004Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Memory disclosure via stale MNG channel sizing

Published Aug 13, 2025 · Updated Aug 13, 2025

Heap-buffer over-read in ImageMagick before 7.1.2-1 allows remote attackers to disclose process memory through a crafted MNG image. ReadOneMNGImage sizes its next and prev magnification buffers before GetAuthenticPixels adds a late alpha channel, then GetPixelRed reads past those allocations. Exploitation requires processing attacker-controlled image content; the over-read can place adjacent heap contents in the generated output.
