CVE-2025-54912

Local privilege escalation via use-after-free

Published Sep 9, 2025 · Updated Sep 9, 2025

Use-after-free in Microsoft Windows BitLocker allows local users with low privileges to elevate privileges on affected Windows systems. Microsoft identifies BitLocker as the affected component but has not published the allocation, release, or reuse path that leaves the object accessible after it is freed. Exploitation requires prior local low-privileged access and no user interaction; successful exploitation grants elevated control over the host.
