Credential disclosure via unredacted CLI logging
Published Aug 5, 2025 · Updated Jan 23, 2026
Cleartext credential storage in Janssen Server 1.9.0 and earlier allows attackers to read passwords from the local cli_cmd.log file. The Jans CLI logging hooks serialize userPassword and clientSecret values into HTTP debug output and command lines without redaction. Exposure requires use of the CLI to add or modify credentials and access to the resulting local log; the disclosed secrets can compromise affected user or client accounts.
