CVE-2025-54867

Container escape via rootfs symlink following

Published Aug 14, 2025 · Updated Aug 14, 2025

Symlink following in Youki before 0.5.5 allows local users to access the host root filesystem through a crafted container rootfs. The rootfs mount path accepted symbolic links at /proc or /sys and created the container without verifying that those destinations were ordinary directories. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and a crafted rootfs, and successful use grants access outside the container boundary.
