CVE-2025-54860

Telnet service lockout via mishandled login failures

Published Sep 18, 2025 · Updated Sep 18, 2025

Improper authentication-attempt handling in Cognex In-Sight products 5.x through 6.5.1 allows attackers to disable the Telnet service. The port 23 management service mishandles repeated login failures and enters an unreachable state instead of continuing to process authentication. Access to the Telnet management interface and repeated failed logins are required; the resulting interruption is limited to that service.
