Unauthenticated command execution via fgtupdates buffer overflow
Published Mar 10, 2026 · Updated Mar 10, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Fortinet FortiManager's fgtupdates service allows remote attackers to execute commands through crafted requests. The service writes request-controlled data beyond a stack buffer, but Fortinet has not identified the affected request field or parsing routine. Exposure is limited to 6.4.0 through 6.4.15, 7.2.0 through 7.2.10, and 7.4.0 through 7.4.2 when the service is enabled and stack protections are bypassed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=6.4.0 <=6.4.15
