CVE-2025-54808

Persistent sequencer access via world-readable token file

Published Oct 23, 2025 · Updated Oct 23, 2025

Credential exposure in Oxford Nanopore Technologies MinKNOW before 24.11 allows local users to access a sequencer through a leaked token. MinKNOW writes an authentication token to a file under /tmp, where host users and applications can read it and create developer tokens with arbitrary expiration dates. Local access is required to obtain the token; remote use additionally requires Remote Connect, and the resulting session can retrieve data, change settings, or interrupt sequencing.
