CVE-2025-54804Network attack vector

Authenticated service crash via channel window overflow

Published Aug 5, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2025

Integer overflow in Eugeny russh before 0.54.1 allows remote authenticated users to crash SSH servers via channel window adjustment messages. The client and server encrypted-channel handlers add the peer-supplied adjustment to a 32-bit recipient window without saturation, so checked builds panic on overflow. An authenticated SSH peer must send a crafted adjustment on an open channel; the demonstrated consequence is a server or single-client crash.
