Root code execution via Bluetooth SDP integer overflow
Published Jun 21, 2025 · Updated Jun 23, 2025
Integer overflow in Sony XAV-AX8500 firmware 2.00.01 allows physically proximate attackers to execute arbitrary code over Bluetooth. The Bluetooth SDP implementation fails to validate user-supplied data before calculating a buffer allocation size, allowing the size computation to overflow. No authentication is required, and successful exploitation runs attacker-controlled code in the root context.
