CVE-2025-5474

SYSTEM code execution via junction-following file deletion

Published Jun 6, 2025 · Updated Jun 9, 2025

Link following in SyncBackFree 11.3.87.0 allows local users to gain SYSTEM execution through a crafted Windows junction. The Mirror functionality passes the attacker-controlled junction to a privileged service deletion operation, which follows the link and removes an arbitrary target file. Exploitation requires low-privileged code execution and administrator interaction; successful file deletion enables code execution as SYSTEM.
