Session hijacking via persistent logout cookie
Published Sep 29, 2025 · Updated Sep 29, 2025
Session termination failure in FreshRSS before 1.27.0 allows remote attackers to reuse a logged-out user's session cookie. The logoutAction() method calls FreshRSS_Auth::removeAccess() but neither expires the cookie nor regenerates the PHP session identifier. Exploitation requires possession of the old cookie and a later login for that account, after which the cookie regains access to authenticated endpoints.
