CVE-2025-54586Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Repository data exfiltration via unchecked packfile commits

Published Jul 30, 2025 · Updated Jul 31, 2025

Hidden-commit injection in FINOS GitProxy before 1.19.2 allows remote authenticated users to exfiltrate repository data via Git pushes. GitProxy trusts ref-update OIDs and derives introduced commits with git rev-list without comparing every commit delivered in the packfile. Regular push access is required; appended unreferenced commits remain retrievable from GitHub by direct SHA despite being absent from branch history.
