Guest integrity compromise via unlocked MMIO routing
Published Apr 16, 2026 · Updated Apr 16, 2026
Missing lock verification in AMD Secure Processor firmware on AMD EPYC processors allows local users with admin access to compromise guest integrity. During boot, privileged UEFI code can program MMIO routing rules that override DRAM routing and drop Secure Processor writes to SEV-SNP reverse-map state. Administrative platform access is required; corrupted reverse-map state permits forged attestation reports and undetected debug-mode guest execution.
