CVE-2025-54497Network attack vector

Authenticated device reconfiguration via SetSerialPort authorization bypass

Published Sep 18, 2025 · Updated Sep 18, 2025

Incorrect permissions in Cognex In-Sight products 5.x through 6.5.1 allow remote authenticated users to alter device settings. The Telnet management service accepts SetSerialPort from a protected user even though the documented security model reserves the operation for stronger access. Valid credentials and network reachability to port 23 are required; successful use can change serial-interface properties and interrupt device operation.
