Code execution via unchecked MFER Tag 133 length
Published Aug 25, 2025 · Updated Aug 25, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in The BioSig Project libbiosig 3.9.0 and Master Branch (35a819fa) allows attackers to execute code via an MFER file. In the MFER Tag 133 branch of sopen_extended, ifread copies the file-supplied len value into a fixed 128-byte stack buffer without validating the destination size. The branch is reached when a calling application parses a crafted MFER file, enabling attacker-controlled data to overwrite the stack and execute arbitrary code in that process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
