Arbitrary code execution via unchecked MFER length
Published Aug 25, 2025 · Updated Aug 25, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in The BioSig Project libbiosig 3.9.0 and master commit 35a819fa allows attackers to execute code via crafted MFER files. In the MFER tag-12 branch of sopen_extended, ifread copies len-2 bytes into a 128-byte stack buffer without rejecting oversized or sub-two lengths. Processing an attacker-supplied MFER file reaches the flaw; attacker-controlled overflow data can corrupt the stack and execute arbitrary code in the calling process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
