Arbitrary code execution via unchecked MFER tag length
Published Aug 25, 2025 · Updated Aug 25, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in libbiosig 3.9.0 and Master Branch (35a819fa) allows attackers to execute code via a crafted MFER file. The sopen_extended tag-11 branch only warns when len exceeds six, then ifread copies the attacker-controlled length into the fixed 128-byte stack buffer buf. Any application that processes an attacker-supplied MFER file reaches the flaw without authentication or user interaction, enabling code execution in that process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
