Code execution via unchecked MFER Tag 4 length
Published Aug 25, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in The BioSig Project libbiosig 3.9.0 and master 35a819fa allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted MFER files. In the sopen_extended Tag 4 branch, an oversized attacker-controlled length only triggers a warning before ifread copies len bytes into the fixed 128-byte stack buffer buf. Processing a malicious MFER file is sufficient to overwrite the stack, causing a crash or attacker-controlled code execution without authentication.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
