Code execution via undersized Nex event table
Published Aug 25, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Heap-based buffer overflow in The BioSig Project libbiosig 3.9.0 and Master Branch (35a819fa) allows attackers to execute code via a crafted Nex file. In sopen_extended, the allocation pass excludes event counts for channel types above 2, but the population pass adds every channel's count and uses the larger total as an array offset. Processing an attacker-supplied .nex file causes an attacker-controlled out-of-bounds heap write, enabling code execution in the calling process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
