CVE-2025-54422Public exploit

Password disclosure via plaintext Imbox arguments

Published Jul 29, 2025 · Updated Jul 29, 2025

Cleartext credential exposure in Sandboxie 1.16.1 and earlier allows local users to read encrypted-sandbox passwords from process arguments. COptionsWindow::OnSetPassword passes the old and new passwords as plaintext command-line arguments when it starts the Imbox process. Any unprivileged process in the same user session can retrieve both passwords during modification, exposing the sandbox key without altering data or service availability.
