Authenticated code execution via unchecked ipaddr formatting
Published Oct 7, 2025 · Updated Oct 7, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in PLANET WGR-500 1.3411b190912 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through crafted HTTP requests. The formPingCmd handler passes the ipaddr request parameter to sprintf without a size check, overflowing the 100-byte ping_command stack buffer. Low-privilege access to the web management interface is required; successful exploitation executes code in the router process or crashes it.
