Arbitrary file overwrite via unsanitized ZIP paths
Published Aug 1, 2025 · Updated Aug 4, 2025
Path traversal in Traefik Proxy 2.11.27 and earlier, 3.0.0 through 3.4.4, and 3.5.0-rc1 allows attackers to overwrite host files. The pkg/plugins/client.go unzipFile function joins an archive entry name to the plugin destination without rejecting traversal segments, allowing a crafted ZIP entry to escape the directory and be opened for truncating writes. Exploitation requires WASM plugins, write access to a remote plugin asset loaded by the server, and delivery of a malicious plugin version; catalog plugins were unaffected, and no known impact was reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=<= 2.11.27, < 2.11.28
