Local file access via unvalidated RSS/search links
Published Jul 18, 2025 · Updated Jul 22, 2025
Improper resource handling in qBittorrent before 5.1.2 allows remote attackers to access local files through crafted RSS or search-result links. RSSWidget and SearchJobWidget pass feed and search-result link targets to QDesktopServices::openUrl without rejecting local-file URLs. Reachability requires untrusted RSS or search metadata to supply the link, and the consequence is limited to access to referenced local resources.
