Authenticated remote code execution via unsanitized upload paths
Published Dec 4, 2025 · Updated Dec 5, 2025
Path traversal in Thermo Fisher Torrent Suite 5.18.1 allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary server files via ZIP uploads. The plupload_file_upload function uses the name parameter or uploaded filename without sanitizing traversal sequences before formatting the destination path. Low-privilege network access is sufficient to overwrite an executable such as pdflatex, which write_report_pdf later launches through subprocess.Popen, resulting in remote code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
