CVE-2025-54293Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated host-file disclosure via log-name traversal

Published Oct 2, 2025 · Updated Oct 2, 2025

Path traversal in Canonical LXD 5.21 before 5.21.4 and 6.0 before 6.5 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary host files. validLogFileName accepts snapshot_ and migration_ prefixes without rejecting separators or dot-dot segments before filepath.Join resolves the name outside the instance log directory. Access to a project and instance is required; a second route also requires container command execution to plant a qualifying symbolic link, and the consequence is host-file disclosure only.
