CVE-2025-54290Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Project existence disclosure via wildcard error oracle

Published Oct 2, 2025 · Updated Oct 2, 2025

Information disclosure in Canonical LXD before 6.5 and 5.21.4 allows remote attackers to confirm project existence through the image export API. The /1.0/images/{fingerprint}/export handler passes a wildcard-bearing fingerprint to a SQL LIKE prefix lookup and exposes different 500 and 404 responses for multiple matches and missing projects. Network access to the API is sufficient without authentication; disclosure is limited to project existence, not project resources.
