CVE-2025-54141Network attack vector

Host directory disclosure via unnormalized request paths

Published Jul 22, 2025 · Updated Jul 23, 2025

Path traversal in ViewVC 1.1.0 through 1.1.30 and 1.2.0 through 1.2.3 allows remote attackers to disclose host directory structure. The standalone server URL-decodes an HTTP path without normalizing it, passes the result as PATH_INFO, and accepts parent-directory components. Exposure requires anonymous network access to standalone.py and a publicly browsable CVS repository; outside CVS repositories can be served, while only other directory names and structure are demonstrated.
