CVE-2025-54114

Local privilege escalation via shared-resource race

Published Sep 9, 2025 · Updated Sep 9, 2025

Race condition in Microsoft Windows Connected Devices Platform Service allows local users to elevate privileges on affected Windows systems. The service concurrently accesses a shared resource without proper synchronization and dereferences an untrusted pointer, but Microsoft has not disclosed the affected function or object. Exploitation requires existing low-privilege local access, high complexity, and no user interaction; success grants elevated privileges with broad data and service impact.
