CVE-2025-54105

Local privilege escalation via shared-resource race

Published Sep 9, 2025 · Updated Sep 9, 2025

Race condition in Microsoft Brokering File System in affected Windows releases allows local users to elevate privileges. The component permits concurrent access to a shared resource without proper synchronization, leading to a use-after-free condition. A low-privileged local user must win a high-complexity race; successful exploitation grants elevated privileges and can compromise system data and availability.
