CVE-2025-54092

Local privilege escalation via Hyper-V race condition

Published Sep 9, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026

A race condition in Microsoft Windows Hyper-V allows local users with existing access to elevate privileges on affected Windows hosts. Microsoft identifies improper synchronization of a shared resource and a resulting use-after-free but has not disclosed the affected Hyper-V function or object. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and no user interaction, and success permits execution with elevated host privileges.
