Stored XSS via unfiltered base elements
Published Jul 18, 2025 · Updated Jul 22, 2025
Stored XSS in Nuxt MDC before 0.17.2 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through Markdown containing a crafted base element. The renderer permits base elements, while its validation path fails to reject their attacker-controlled href values, causing later relative resource URLs to resolve against an external origin. Exploitation requires an application to render attacker-controlled Markdown, and a restrictive content security policy can block the external script load.
