CVE-2025-53865Network attack vector

Authenticated XSS via unsafe TAL template rendering

Published Jul 13, 2025 · Updated Jul 14, 2025

Cross-site scripting in Roundup before 2.5.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary JavaScript through crafted tracker URLs. Devel and responsive TAL templates render attacker-controlled context values with tal:replace, which assumes HTML-safe output, and use structure with plain values, suppressing escaping. Low-privileged tracker access and a vulnerable template are required; successful exploitation runs script in the Roundup web origin, exposing or modifying browser-accessible tracker data.
