CVE-2025-53853Network attack vector

Code execution via undersized event buffers

Published Aug 25, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in The BioSig Project libbiosig 3.9.0 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted ISHNE annotation file. In sopen_extended, attacker-controlled file and header lengths can reduce EVENT.N to zero, causing undersized EVENT.POS and EVENT.TYP allocations before annotation entries are written without a matching bounds check. Exploitation requires a consuming application to parse the malicious file, and successful heap corruption permits code execution in that application's process.
