Local privilege escalation via unauthenticated StateRepository function
Published Aug 12, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Missing authentication in Microsoft Windows StateRepository API allows local users to elevate privileges through a critical function. Microsoft identifies the affected locus only as a critical StateRepository API function that accepts a local authorized caller without the required authentication check. Low-privilege access to an affected Windows installation is required; Microsoft has not published the function name, input path, or resulting privilege level.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
