Privileged command execution via backup reachability test
Published Dec 9, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
OS command injection in Fortinet FortiSandbox and FortiSandbox Cloud allows remote authenticated users to execute commands via crafted HTTPS requests. The GUI backup option's test_ip_reachbility request path passes attacker-controlled data to an operating-system command without neutralizing command elements. Administrative privileges are required, and successful exploitation grants command execution with appliance-level confidentiality, integrity, and availability consequences.
