Arbitrary file read via unchecked SAF paths
Published Jul 15, 2025 · Updated Jul 15, 2025
Path traversal in DSpace before 7.6.4, 8.0 through 8.1, and 9.0 allows attackers to read server files through SAF import. ItemImportServiceImpl processes file paths named in an SAF contents file without resolving and checking their canonical locations against the package root. Exploitation requires a site administrator to import the crafted archive through Batch Import or a system administrator to run the command-line import, exposing files readable by the Tomcat account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
