CVE-2025-53618

Information disclosure via unchecked JPEG scanline bounds

Published Dec 16, 2025 · Updated Dec 16, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in GDCM 3.024 allows local users to disclose process memory by supplying a crafted DICOM file for JPEG compression. JPEGBITSCodec::InternalCode ignores the input buffer length and derives each scanline pointer from file-controlled dimensions; grayscale_convert then advances inptr beyond the allocated pixel data. Exploitation requires the affected library or a linked utility to compress the crafted file; the over-read exposes adjacent process memory, and Talos observed a process crash.
