CVE-2025-53549Network attack vector

Authenticated SQL execution via interpolated relation filters

Published Jul 10, 2025 · Updated Jul 10, 2025

SQL injection in matrix-sdk 0.11 through 0.12 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary SQL in Matrix client databases. The SQLite EventCache store inserts custom relation-type filters into an IN clause with format! instead of SQL placeholders. Exploitation requires a malicious room member, a client that forwards that member's relation type to the API, and the default SQLite store; arbitrary SQL can read, alter, or delete the client's local database.
