Code execution via mismatched MFER channel allocation
Published Aug 25, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Heap-based buffer overflow in The BioSig Project libbiosig 3.9.0 allows attackers to execute code through a crafted MFER file. The sopen_extended parser defaults hdr->NS to one while constructHDR allocates hdr->CHANNEL for zero entries when an MFER file omits tag 5, causing channel-field writes beyond the heap allocation. Processing such a file is sufficient to trigger the overwrite, and successful exploitation executes code in the calling application's context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
