CVE-2025-53501Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Restricted content disclosure via unchecked Lua title access

Published Jul 3, 2025 · Updated Jul 10, 2025

Improper access control in Wikimedia Foundation Scribunto allows remote attackers to read restricted wiki page content through Lua. The getContentInternal method behind mw.title.getContent() retrieves a title's content without checking whether its namespace is marked nonincludable. Exposure requires restricted content in a namespace listed by $wgNonincludableNamespaces; logged-out users with wiki read access can invoke the Lua debug console.
