Administrator code execution via companion DLL loading
Published Aug 4, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2025
DLL search-path hijacking in Paramount Macrium Reflect through 2025-06-26 allows local users to execute code as administrator. ReflectMonitor.exe searches the opened .mrimgx file's directory for VSSSvr.dll and loads an attacker-placed library after mounting. Exploitation requires a malicious backup and same-directory DLL, plus an administrator who opens the backup and accepts the UAC prompt; the library then runs with administrator privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
