CVE-2025-53392Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated file disclosure via unsanitized download path

Published Jun 28, 2025 · Updated Jun 30, 2025

Path traversal in Netgate pfSense CE 2.8.0 allows remote authenticated users with Diagnostics Command privilege to read arbitrary files. The dlPath handler in diag_command.php passes the user-controlled path to file_exists and send_user_download without sanitization or directory restriction. Exploitation requires authentication and the WebCfg - Diagnostics: Command privilege; Netgate disputes the issue as intended behavior, and exposure is limited to files readable by the PHP process.
