CVE-2025-53373Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Account takeover via Host header injection

Published Jul 7, 2025 · Updated Jul 7, 2025

Host header injection in Natours 0.0.1 allows remote attackers to take over accounts through the unauthenticated password-reset endpoint. The forgetPassword handler builds the emailed reset URL by concatenating req.protocol with the untrusted Host header, sending the victim's reset token to an attacker-controlled domain. Exploitation requires the victim to follow that emailed link; the exposed token lets the attacker set a replacement password and assume the victim's account.
