CVE-2025-53192Network attack vector

Arbitrary code execution via incomplete class blocklist

Published Aug 18, 2025 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Expression injection in all versions of Apache Commons OGNL allows attackers to execute arbitrary code through untrusted expressions. Ognl.getValue parses and evaluates caller-supplied expressions, while OgnlRuntime relies on an incomplete class-and-method blocklist that can be bypassed with unlisted class objects. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled expressions to the API; successful execution runs with that application's Java process privileges.
