File disclosure via unchecked out-of-workspace search
Published Jun 27, 2025 · Updated Jun 30, 2025
Information disclosure in Roo Code before 3.20.3 allows remote attackers to read files outside the VS Code workspace via prompt injection. The search_files tool resolved and searched attacker-directed paths outside the workspace without enforcing the configured read boundary, then exposed file contents for insertion into a JSON schema. Exploitation requires an attacker able to submit prompts and default-enabled schema fetching; the schema write triggers a network request without approval, disclosing the captured data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
