Processing hang via nonterminating XMP fraction conversion
Published Jul 14, 2025 · Updated Jul 15, 2025
Denial of service in ImageMagick before 7.1.2-0 allows remote attackers to hang image processing via a crafted XMP profile. GetXmpNumeratorAndDenominator in MagickCore/profile.c iterates until a floating-point fraction matches an XMP value, but out-of-range values cannot satisfy the exit test. Processing attacker-controlled image metadata is sufficient to consume a worker indefinitely; no data disclosure or modification is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
