CVE-2025-52984Network attack vector

Routing daemon restart via reject-route gNMI query

Published Jul 11, 2025 · Updated Jul 15, 2025

NULL pointer dereference in Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved rpd allows remote attackers to restart the daemon through a gNMI query. When gRPC is enabled and a static route resolves through a reject next hop, rpd dereferences a NULL pointer while processing that route's query. Network access to the unauthenticated gRPC service and the specific route configuration are required; exploitation crashes and automatically restarts rpd, interrupting routing service.
