Routing interruption via asserted BGP UPDATE processing
Published Jul 11, 2025 · Updated Jul 14, 2025
Reachable assertion in rpd in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers to restart routing via a BGP UPDATE. rpd reaches an assertion while processing a specific UPDATE when BGP multipath uses pause-computation-during-churn, causing the daemon to crash and restart. Sustained interruption requires continuous receipt from an established BGP peer while that non-default option remains configured.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
