Routing-service crash via BGP error-path assertion
Published Jul 11, 2025 · Updated Jul 11, 2025
Reachable assertion in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers on an adjacent network to crash rpd. With route validation enabled, a failed connection request during BGP initial session establishment reaches an assertion in rpd's error-handling path, causing the daemon to crash and restart. Repeated session-establishment failures can sustain the routing-service interruption; the record discloses no confidentiality or integrity impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
