CVE-2025-52949

Routing service interruption via malformed BGP packet

Published Jul 11, 2025 · Updated Jul 11, 2025

CWE-130 in rpd in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows attackers to restart routing via malformed BGP packets. The daemon mishandles inconsistent length parameters while processing a crafted BGP update, causing rpd to crash and restart. Exposure requires EVPN signaling and an iBGP or eBGP peer over IPv4 or IPv6; repeated packets sustain the routing-service interruption.
